Murry Christmas, Suckaz!

Category : Progress Reports

I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Christmas.  We are having a slow morning at the Trickle Cheddar residence before beginning our family festivities around noon.  I wanted to take some time and wish everyone some clicks on what is probably the slowest internet day of the year.  Yesterday my account thrived on one single click, which I am grateful for as this may be the first month I’ve never had a zero dollar day.  Even this morning on Christmas I’ve already seen three clicks!  This gives me a lot of hope for January.  I want January to blow the hinges off of things and really build some energy and motivation for the coming year.  My plan is to try and match my “real job” income by December 21st, 2012 (just a fun date to choose because it is, in fact, supposedly, allegedly the end of days).

An interesting thing is that my big bad ten year old domain on Codename: Karma just got it’s first click at a solid $6.75.  And that’s what I should be expecting on most every click!  That is going to be a big earner!  That’s a good Christmas present, I think.

I’ve also come to realize the naivety in three of my sites from the early days.  So I’m going to cannibalize the content and purchase two new domains (one down!) and start new sites.  They were just too big to tackle as one person.  Also my very first site that is penalized for it’s main term is going to be 301 redirected to a new domain I’ve been holding on to.  I’ve put more work into that site than any other, so it’s homepage needs to rank for something and earn.  To much invested to just sit there and earn a click here and there on the inner pages.

That’s what’s going on in this neck of the woods.  Hope everyone gets a lot of goodies!  Note to self: Buy a new router during the after Christmas sales!

Christmas. Bah Humbug. Except for the Present I Just Got!

Category : Progress Reports

So here we are floating along nicely through December the 1st through 15th or so.  I was killing it.  Getting $40+ days, more $30+ days than I’ve ever had in a month, and my low days were what I’d have considered awesome days two months ago.  And then we hit the present, which is the weekend before Christmas.  I’m guessing everyone is out Christmas shopping and panicking because I’m not getting crap for clicks in the past couple days.  I’m sure this will continue until beyond New Years. This only solidifies for me that I need to spend some time making a batch of holiday sites!  The way I was averaging, I was looking at busting $600 for the month.  I’ll still probably beat last month, but not drastically like I was hoping.

As for the “Christmas Present” I got, I had ordered a High PR blog comment package from this guy I worked with before.  I was meant to get 25 links across 4 domains spread evenly, but when I opened the report I had 118 links!  I got 93 extra links because the guy’s outsourcers misunderstood.  These were all PR 2 through 6.  That’s probably $100 worth of links I just got for free.  We about to see some rankings shift, boyeeee!

I hope you guys aren’t seeing the down days like I am right now.  Sucks.  But it gives me faith for January!

New Daily High Busted!

Category : Progress Reports

Yesterday I just barely beat out my daily high.  By this I mean the most money I’ve earned in one day.  Today, my friends, I obliterated it.  And my daily average across the month is also far above last months.  I’m not on par to double last month’s earnings yet, but it could still happen, making it the sixth month in a row I’ve doubled! I have so many sites on the verge of ranking.  I have a specific batch of sites I’m working on now.  I’m not going to start any more until these are fully fleshed out and most are ranking.  That should do quite a bit of damage to my earnings!  Oh yeah.  Breaking Records for the win.

I think the most exciting thing I have going on is Codename: Karma.  It’s a low-end big boy term that I managed to get a ten year exact match domain for.  That sucker is sitting at #10.  Right at the bottom of page one.  But It’s going to move higher in the next few days.  I can’t wait to see what that beast does at number one.  I have a few others that are on the verge of ranking and banking as well that should all combine to double my earnings.  Things are nice in Trickle Cheddar land.  I wish you all the same.

EDIT:  I’ve come back to add some more news that I forgot to mention.  I found two beasts of domains about a week ago.  Yesterday, GoDaddy was having a “get a domain for a dollar” day so I tossed a ton of keywords into my machinery and it chugged it out and I ended up with two Exact Match Domains.  One was for 27.1k exact search term with a $0.63 CPC and the other was only 1300 searches but has a $2.48 CPC.  Both should add nicely to the bottom end of revenue!  Four more sites to be built now!  Thank goodness the content outsourcers are pounding out articles at a high quantity and quality!

A General Progress Update: Outsourcing Galore!

Category : Progress Reports

My latest saga has been a struggle over what to do with the profits I’m seeing.  I still haven’t broken even across the entire board and I’m eager to see that happen.  The reason I haven’t is because I keep spending now that I know what I’m doing.  But I wanted to place things on pause for a minute so I could move towards the black out of the red.  But I know reinvesting in the business is how I will accelerate growth.  So I spoke with my lady and a good buddy of mine, both who encouraged me to keep the snowball rolling by at least pumping in half, if not all, of the earnings.

Well, I listened.  I just wrote an “Experience Points” article about article writing scams.  This came about because I chose six article writers from a forum I frequent and asked them to do four articles each.  All except one have come through with varying levels of quality.  One attempted to rip me off altogether until I put her on blast in the public eye, and she immediately fixed it.  But I’d rather have had a refund but whatever.  I chalked it up to the cost of sorting out the turds from the gold.  One of them happened to have superb quality.  I mean grade A stuff.  And this person was the cheapest of all.  I’m so happy with that.

I settled on two people and have already gotten a solid 25 articles done.  I’m going to order them as fast as they can handle up until I spend each month’s revenue.  I may not even stop there.  In my mind, this will eventually equal some heavy bank roll.

What I have found is that reading and editing articles (I have to since these are English as a second language writers) still takes quite a bit of time.  When I wrote my own articles, I could do two a night after work.  Pretty boring stuff.  That included me relaxing and goofing off.  Well, they are smashing out ten a day, and I can’t edit all of those at once.  It’s high quality but there are errors here and there.  I fix it as I read through.  Anyways though, this should be the beginnings of a new era of “taking massive action” and getting tons of work done.

I thank Tim Ferris and his 4 Hour Workweek book for exposing me to outsourcing.  It’s a game changer.  Great book.  Read it!

I’ve got about ten sites creeping on page 2 and 1, and I’ve got one bog boy at Codename: Karma finally ranking.  That sucker is going to rank and bank some coin, I tell you!

Watch for these Article Writing Scams…

Today’s Article Writing Scam is…

Ye Ole Copy-Pasta

So I’ve gone through a roller-coaster ride trying to find a decent article writer.  I tried one who did well for a few orders, and then the quality hit the floor.  Then I started writing all of my own articles, but this takes way too long for what is supposed to be a passive business.  So yesterday I tried three more people.  One of them already got back to me with the four articles I tried them on.

This person boasts in their sales thread on the forum that all articles are passed as unique through CopyScape before they are emailed out.  So check out what I saw when I put it through my own premium CopyScape account: Continue Reading
